Call for Workshop Proposals

EDRC2027 will take place in Bonn from September 20-23, 2027. As is tradition, the meeting will begin with six workshops organized in two sessions. Each session will host three parallel workshops. We would like to invite you to submit a workshop proposal. As workshop organizers, you will have the opportunity to select the format and speakers following the EDRC workshop guidelines:

  • Two organizers per workshop. Organizers receive free registration (including gala dinner).
  • Speaker selection by invitation and/or through submitted abstracts.
  • Possible formats:
    • A) Short talks (12 min + 3 min Q&A)
    • B) Long talks (25 min + 5 min Q&A)
    • C) A combination of A and B
  • Workshops may include a slot dedicated for open discussion but must maintain 15-minute time units to allow attendees to move between workshops.
  • Speaker diversity: ensure gender balance, inclusion of early career scientists (from doctoral students to junior PIs), and geographic diversity.
  • Speakers participating in workshops will not give a talk in the main sessions. Therefore, workshop speakers, including organizers who choose to present, should refrain from submitting abstracts for talks in the main sessions.
  • One speaker per lab in each workshop.
  • Registration fee, travel and accommodation expenses for workshop speakers cannot be covered by the conference.
  • The EDRC2027 Organizing Committee will select six workshops plus one additional workshop to be placed on a waiting list.

To apply, submit a one-page proposal describing the topic, focus, philosophy and format of your workshop. Please highlight how it complements or distinguishes itself from the traditional main EDRC sessions. Organizers can give a talk in their own workshop, but the proposal should include at least two confirmed speakers, excluding the organizers. The proposal should also briefly outline the strategy in case confirmed speakers cancel on short notice. Note that upon the selection of your workshop, the EDRC2027 Organizing Committee may ask for a revised speaker list that meets the requirements listed above.
